Title: Manuka in various light
Artist: Nick Lowry
Location: Langdons Quarter toilet corridor
The work at Northlands:
Manuka is a New Zealand native shrub producing fine flowers in various shades of purple/pink, this mural depicts the manuka flowers in other shades of colour, abstracting its form and reimagining the flowers characteristics, each flower changing in its energy relative to its colour.
Nick Lowry is a set designer and art director whose work is reflected in his murals, he enables the viewer to become immersed in a world of colour and free flowing form. Nature is always an influence, but is translated obscurely as he twists and bends its form and places it in a different light.
